Interface Project Final

I learned so much in this class and while it was a lot of work, it was still a lot of fun to do.  I already had some interest in Indesign and Photoshop but learning more about Illustrator was great.  I also got to learn more about the Adobe programs and since I work at a graphic design/photography studio, I’ll be able to use these new skills at work.  As a photojournalism major, I wasn’t a huge fan of sitting in front of a computer for hours and staring at the screen but hopefully these graphic design skills will help me create resumes, websites, and other things necessary for my career as a photojournalist.  Because this class was difficult, I’m a bit scared to take the higher level graphics course required for my major but excited at the same time.

favorite website

As someone with an online shopping addiction, Hautelook is an amazing website.  This site provides discounts on many designer items and it is so neatly laid out that anyone could figure out how to use it.  Its simplicity and neatness is what catches my eye and keeps me going there nearly everyday to check out the deals.  I like that the site uses somewhat of a three many column format which keeps it easy to read and by having the navigation bar on the top, it makes the site easy to use.

homepage rough

I have always loved the flickr website because of its simplicity and how much white space there is.  Also, there is always an amazing photograph featured on the front page that I always love looking at.  The white space compliments the photo and makes the website seem very balanced.  Although the ad on the side is somewhat annoying and ruins the image of the website, it is only there because I have a basic account and not a premium.

I have always liked looking at the Forever21 website because the front page image is always eye-catching and interesting.  The usage of the photo as the vocal point and the simplicity of the rest of the website helps make the viewer want to see what the photograph is about.  The website is easy to navigate and I’ve never had a problem with it.  The grid also makes the website easy to understand.

The Craigslist website is absolutely horrible.  There is no hierarchy and the type fills up the whole page which makes it boring.  The colors are monotone and add to the drab and horrible website.  There is absolutely nothing that catches my eye on this website and nothing that makes this website intriguing.
