Five months after United Airlines and Continental Airlines sealed their legal merger, the combined company is introducing an “interim” advertising campaign to begin changing the United website to comport the new look. Effective in March, the United website will undergo changes so the new logo appears at the top of the home page, and the site will begin using photographic images instead of United’s tulip logo. Fans of the old logo have a Facebook page dedicated to saving it and Internet chatrooms are rife with debate about the merits of the tulip vs the globe. This current event deals with design since the two carriers are meshing their websites and rebranding their entire company through an ad campaign. This program will aim at making the companies fully integrated.  – Jessica Ente
