A year and two weeks after Heinz first announced it wanted to redesign one of the products, Ketchup packets, the company has finally unveiled the new design. The new packets are larger and have an end for squeezing as well as dipping. Some criticize the new packets as wasteful while others applaud the usefulness and creativity. Heinz has partnered with Chik-Fil-A so that when a customer asks for the new Heinz packets, he or she will get free fries. Heinz kept the typeface as well as coloring and logo the same. This redesign was really more about functionality than look. Personally, I don’t think it was necessary, and it almost irritates me that a company would waste so much time and money just so that I don’t have to squeeze my Ketchup onto my plate if I want to dip.
