Successful and Unsuccessful Wordmarks

My blog post is a little late because I’ve been interning in NYC for Fashion Week. What I noticed while I was interning was how similar all of the designers word marks are.  Although they are all sleek, and maintain an image of class, it would be nice to see some variety among the brands. My favorite wordmark is probably for Levis. The wordmark is simple, iconic, and differentiates the brand from hundreds of other jeans. In fact, its the wordmark that has really leveraged the brand– you see the red tag with the white typeface on the back pocket and you know the jeans are Levis, you know the history of the brand, and you know what the brand means.
